Is margin being consumed while output holds steady?

A system can keep delivering its output while the structural margin behind that output is being used up. The instrument reads remaining margin alongside observed output, so the gap between them becomes visible while there is still time to act. That gap is the precursor window.

You'll recognize this if targets keep being met, but each month it takes more effort, more overrides or more spare capacity to meet them.

Observed output holds at 100 percent while remaining structural margin declines, with the precursor window shaded
Illustrative. Service level holds steady while structural margin falls. The shaded region is the precursor window, when inspection or intervention still helps.

What you receive

Remaining structural margin read as of each date, set against observed output.

When to use it

When output looks stable but the cost or effort of keeping it there is rising.

What it starts from

Repeated, time-stamped records of the system and its relationships.

One Question Challenge

Can the answer to one question begin a transformation for your organization?

Bring us your version of this question. Submit one well-formed question about the relationships holding your system together. If the structural signal is present, you will know it; if not, the engagement stops. No data leaves your environment. No implementation required. No commitment beyond the question itself.

Take the Challenge

The usual starting point is the One Question Challenge, or a bounded Structural Integrity Scan from existing records.
